Malcolm Wright, grandson of author and activist Richard Wright, has a transfixing dream about whales that upends his career-oriented life in visual effects. Catapulted by a string of strange coincidences and inspired by his grandfather, Malcolm gains unprecedented access into the guarded world of whaling. WHALE LIKE ME is a feature documentary following Malcolm’s improbable 10-year quest to understand whales and broker close encounters between whales and the humans who hunt them, an epic journey that leads him back to the slave plantation where his legendary grandfather was born.
